3 easy ideas on how to revamp those old-but-gold pieces

Lately I realised that thanks to my very often second hand hunting and all the activities, that include getting clothes cheap (or free, like clothes "exchange" at my mother's workplace) I got to the point of no return. I was forced to go dig in the pile of clothes, which contains my "treasures" that are awaiting me having some time to revamp them and give them new life. And I realised... THE TIME TO DO SO IS NOW! This post is more like an inspiration and few tips on how to revamp your old clothes, because hey, you sometimes want to be "environment-friendly" and also you can make really unique and cool stuff this way. Today I will focus only on studs, but there will be more posts like this coming later (I told you, I got A LOT of stuff that need makeover). Let's get inspired, shall we?

Materials:
For all of these projects, I ended up buying 500 7x7mm studs in anthracite colour (and few silver ones), this package cost me under 10 EUR. For those of you from Czech republic, I can recommend the site I bought mine supplies on - Stoklasa. When choosing the colour of studs, pay attention to clothing pieces that you are planning on pairing the item with - you usually don't want to wear both silver and gold metal in your outfit, right?

As for the actual clothes, I used the denim jacket that I got for free on some of the last year's clothes exchanges at my mother's work (great thing, btw - everyone brings their unwanted clothes, that are still in good condition on one pile, and everyone can choose from that pile of clothes whatever they like). The shirt is second hand hunting treasure (approx 4-5 EUR) and the shorts were also "for free" - those are old jeans with their legs cut off and lightly stitched on sewing machine.

Inspiration no. 1 - MEOW shirt:

Meow, meow, welcome back to 80's. =^.^=

Total price: around 7 EUR
Time demands: within few hours - it looks simple, but if you want this DIY to look good, plan the letters on paper first. It also depends on your handiness, for me it was somewhere around 3 to 4 hours.
Skill dependant: a little - making straight lines with those little metal suckers ain't easy...

Simple idea that turns basic shirt into statement piece of your outfit. However, if you decide to make it, prepare your favourite movie first - it takes some time, especially if you want to make longer word or even sentence (I wish you lot of patience, if you do, lol).

What would I wear it with? Basically any brightly coloured bottom. While choosing the studs for this project, take in consideration metal colours that are already in your wardrobe like jeans buttons etc. However, since the masterpiece is going to be on the back, I would not worry too much about metals on front side - I wear it like shown in the picture and the skirt actually has gold buttons and nobody cares.

Inspiration no. 2 - Denim jacket

Total price: negligible (1-2 EUR)
Time demands: 30-45 minutes - no special preparation needed, the only problem was piercing studs through all the layers of fabric of the pocket.
Skill dependant: no, not many straight lines here lol!

Who would not love to have more geometric accents in their outfit, huh? Very simple idea, taken to next level by combination of 2 different colour of metal. I just love this one.

What would I wear it with? I would love to wear this piece with summer, slightly girly dress, just to bring down the girly feel and make the outfit feel slightly edgy. However, this is way more versatile piece than the previous one, so the possibilities are almost (seriously, just no more denim, plz!) endless.

Inspiration no. 3 - DIY shorts with studded pockets

Total price: negligible (1-2 EUR)
Time demands: approx 1 hour - depends on the pattern tho
Skill dependant: no, silly! Just be at least a little precise.

I am not sure how about you guys, but every time I buy jeans, I end up having them torn apart in the tight area no later than in half a year. Which is the reason why developed this habit of making all ruined jeans into shorts. However, after doing so for few years, you end up having quite a lot of shorts that look quite alike. Studs are perfect way to reinvent the look of your shorts in many different ways - all studded pockets, some kind of patterns, studs on belt loops,... The only limit is your imagination. Just think of a pattern and make it!

What would I wear it with? Pretty much any basic top or T-shirt in any colour would be cool. Basically, this is the most variable piece of these 3.

I hope that you guys got some inspiration here and if you decide to revamp some of your clothes, feel free to share pictures with me! :)
